If the Republicans are at “war with women” you certainly wouldn’t know it from talking to the strippers and escorts who are more than sad to see them leave Tampa. Said one industry worker (who requested anonymity) while packing for her trip to Charlotte, “generally speaking, the Republicans are better tippers than the Democrats, but there’s always hope –we’ll see next week.”

I hate to break the news to her. In fact, when it comes to tipping, it’s really not a fair comparison. According to Angelina Spencer, the head of the Association of Club Executives (the stripper lobby), Republicans outspend Democrats at conventions by a three to one margin. “When we compared spending, the average showed Republicans spending $150 per person at an adult club, versus Democrats, who averaged $50 a person.”

“It’s our brand of stimulus,” said a veteran Republican delegate who also chose to remain anonymous. “Our Democratic brethren call us hypocrites because we’ve somehow gained the reputation of being prudish; that we’re against the adult industry, etc. The truth is the Democrats will turn out and party at the same places and do pretty much the same thing in the same numbers. They’re just cheap.”

Well, I’m glad we’ve got that cleared up.
